Visitations: the report
An overview on America’s UFO story - and the cover-up behind it.
In 1939, the greatest minds at the disposal of the United States of America gathered to venture down the deepest known scientific rabbit-hole of the ages, the development of the Atom Bomb. The atom bomb: the most destructive tool utilized on Earth; leading head scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer to proclaim, “…now I am become Death, destroyer of worlds.” (Temperton) A race against time; a race against the Nazis; and a race against our own disintegrating morals, the Manhattan Project & atom bomb development was one of the most notable government secrets of the ages. It was impeccable that our enemies never knew of our developments, which were diversified across the country so that not even Americans were aware of the atom bomb. It would not be until August 6th, 1945, that the world would be shaken by the nuclear revelations. The Manhattan Project was the runway for future governmental projects, demonstrating their ability to compartmentalize and classify anything which they held significant.
July 7th, 1947. Roswell, New Mexico. Where one of the most infamous, and perhaps influential, encounters of an Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) vessel would ignite a multi-decade cataclysm of government disinformation. As the story goes, a flying saucer, a sleek, silver, disc-like object, crashed in the fields of a rancher in Roswell. Within 24 hours, the United States Armed Air Forces had silenced the matter.
There was an immediate attempt to hide whatever had been recovered, which according to multiple military eyewitnesses such as Lt. Col. Jesse Marcel, was not material from this planet. “There were I-beams with unusual symbols… as light as balsa wood… could not be cut, broken, or burnt.” (Friedman 17-18) As with the Manhattan Project, it is not unreasonable that the military would be so quick as to mute the recovery efforts, for the sake of having a strategical and potentially technological advantage. And so, “On July 8, 1947, Colonel Blanchard ordered the base public information officer, Walter Haut, to issue a press release announcing the recovery of a crashed saucer… put the wreckage on a B-29 and fly with it to Wright Field in Ohio… make a stop at [the 8th Air Force HQ, Fort Worth, TX] …General Roger Ramey, head of the 8th Air Force… instructed Marcel to say nothing…” (Friedman, 18).
This was, of course, uncharted territory for the men of the Roswell AAF Base, and even Fort Worth Air Forces. To research the wreckage, during the fall of 1947, President Truman would proceed to establish the Central Intelligence Agency, and in 1952, the Majestic-12. (AKA MJ-12) “Operation Majestic-12 is a Top-Secret research and Development/Intelligence operation responsible directly and only to the [POTUS]. … On 07 July, 1947, a secret operation was begun to assure recovery of the wreckage of [the Roswell UAP] for scientific study.” (Friedman 232 & 234) And there it was, the discovery of this memo to President Elect Eisenhower in 1952 was a classified admittance of secrecy by the U.S. Government. These “Top-Secret” operations, as described by the Truman office themselves, began the day of the Roswell encounter. It was a compartmentalized, secretive effort, compiled of the brightest minds of the country, and was hushed much like the earlier stories of Los Alamos and the Manhattan Project.
Albeit many attempts to debunk & disprove the MJ-12 documents, nuclear physicist and ufologist, Stanton Friedman, has seen no sufficient evidence to discredit their origin or reliability. The documents were originally found on undeveloped film, sent to Friedman’s cohorts with no other information given.
National security & defense have largely been the primary cause for classification of these documents and technologies. Seen in 1971; at the height of the Vietnam War, the New York Times (N.Y.T.) had uncovered classified documents detailing secret military operatives, such as Agent Orange, and found it their duty to reveal to America. Challenged by the Nixon Administration for purposes of defense, the Supreme Court ultimately ruled that it was within the N.Y.T.’s freedoms to share the documents with the public. (Oyez) This was damaging on a number of levels, notably in that it revealed the Nixon Administration had actively been lying and withdrawing information from the public, of which they should have had a right to know.
Until 1994, the U.S. Government had successfully ignored any mention of the Roswell incident. Whatever was behind the scenes with MJ-12, or other private-sector research, had been kept under cover as was intended. However, in 1994 the U.S. Air Force released “The Roswell Report”. This document stated that the Roswell wreckage was “…recovered debris from an Army Air Forces balloon-borne research project code named MOGUL” (U.S.A.F.) Yes, it is understood and accepted that the Armed Air Forces was, in fact, testing project MOGUL in the area. Regardless, the question of “Why?” must be addressed in this situation. What benefit would the government see from attempting to retroactively debunk an incident from 47 years prior, with an excuse which does not align with previous testimonies? The answer is none. If everything regarding MJ-12, Project Blue-Book (a prior military UAP investigation (National Archives)), and Roswell was true, then the greatest way to keep something “Top-Secret” classification, is to not address it! This acknowledgement was not made in the same vein of discretion and secrecy as before, rather an attempt to discredit and misinform the public of the events of July 7th, 1947. An event, at that point nearly 50 years old, should be truthfully declassified, and provides no advantage by keeping it hidden or labeled as a fallacy.
Yet, the disinformation campaign has worked extraordinarily well for those who have wished it to. It was not until recently that the tides began to turn for the subject of UAP research. The Pentagon had successfully withheld all information about UAPs in their possession; but the Pentagon had been bleeding it all along. In 2017, the Department of Defense released three videos, titled “GOFAST.wmv,” “FLIR.wmv,” and “GIMBAL.wmv,” which gave the clearest picture ever of these unknown objects, and a validation of their existence by the Pentagon. These videos had been withheld since 2004. (Department) They were captured by Navy F/A 18 fighter jets’ IR sensors from the USS Roosevelt and USS Nimitz, which locked in on two crafts which were lacking “…any visible flight control surfaces or means of propulsion,” according to Navy pilot Alex Dietrich. “Because my job was classified, and I had access to classified, I was kind of aware this was not a one-off event for the navy. These things happen frequently. They happen all the time,” stated Matthew Roberts, former Naval Intelligence Cryptologist, on the topic of the USS Nimitz & Roosevelt reports. (Encounters)
This is an irrefutable admittance by the United States that we are notably aware that we are being visited. Nor are these isolated instances. There have been numerous, increasing, reports by military whistleblowers which corroborate each other on inexplicable incidents. Slowly, but surely, classifications are being reversed through a drip-drain of leaks, waiting on the kettle to blow. 2021 saw the release of a “Preliminary Assessment” from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which details governmental research on UAPs in a nine-page document. This Assessment highlights the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force’s (UAPTF) acknowledgement of presence of unknown aircraft which may pose a threat to national security, and that we are unaware of its exact origins. (Office) For the previous 70 years, the U.S. Government has kept all awareness of UAPs classified in the wake of wars. Now, that decision on classification is seemingly being transitionally revoked.
“I was an intelligence officer for 14 years, both in the US Air Force (USAF) at the rank of Major… and… at the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency… I am driven by a commitment to truth and transparency… I was informed, in the course of my official duties, of a multi-decade UAP crash retrieval and reverse engineering program...” stated David Grusch. (U.S. House) As stated by himself, Grusch is a significant man, and one who has compelling reasons to speak the truth while under oath. His 2023 Congressional testimonies were given with a large sum of classified information, which could not be donated in the public reports. However, what Grusch has contributed to this larger-than-life research is knocking loose any preconceived notions. His testimony was one of the first official publications by a government official, nonetheless one who was such high-ranking, of something which was unbeknownst to us. It may not be often considered, but Mr. Grusch is under immense pressure if he is not telling the truth. The question becomes, no longer on the government, but on the individuals at hand; why lie?
Publicity. Our society has devolved into such a state that anything remotely out of the ordinary will get scrutinized to hell and back, questioned into nothingness, and promoted at interstellar levels. UAPs have long found their spot in the media, leading back to informants such as Bob Lazar, or with such pop culture hits as Steven Spielberg’s “E.T.” People like to question their imaginations. If Grusch was falsifying his reports in the name of publicity, then he is a fool. If Grusch was falsifying his reports for any other reasons, he is even more of a fool. There is no evidence or logic to doubt beyond what is reasonable, or attempt to disprove, any statements which he has so faithfully given to the United States.
The Unidentified Aerial Phenomena has long riddled our country with questions, concerns, and an imagination of the extraterrestrial which has fascinated our collective. Demonstrated throughout history to be one of the greatest secrets ever kept, the spool is slowly unraveling before our eyes. Countless testimonies from countless individuals, and countless defiance from countless agencies, have led to a propaganda war and exemplification of government distrust. There are, without a doubt, secrets being withheld from the public which are not accessible by any standard means. The Manhattan Project; MJ-12; Project Blue Book; USS Nimitz; these cases have all been kept under top-secret wraps for years, some; for decades. If the government can shield the development of the most destructive arms on the planet, is it so unreasonable to comprehend what else they could hide? An ultimatum is not near. A recent report from February of 2024, issued by the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution office, or AARO, found that “…no evidence that any USG investigation, academic-sponsored research, or official review panel has confirmed that any sighting of a UAP represented extraterrestrial technology.” (AARO) This statement suggests potentially two differing ideas: 1., that the government is actively lying regarding their UAP research and programs, or 2., that they are intentionally hiding extremely advanced private Air Force development. AARO also stated that they recognize the given testimonials were truthful – to the extent of the knowledge of the witnesses, who “believed” that the research was that of otherworldly work. AARO claims that these beliefs are exaggerated and do not reflect the true intentions of the research.
Lue Elizondo, former counterintelligence officer for the Department of Defense and former director of the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, stated, “…that this was real, and there were things coming into our controlled airspace affecting our military pilots, and we had no understanding of what it was.” (Howard) We are aware of something greater than ourselves. The concern for national security should be, in this instance, in favor of UAP disclosure. Our military, interpreted from Elizondo’s statements, could be under risk if UAPs are left unkempt. Our civilians, our homes, and our soldiers, are experiencing otherworldly phenomena, and we have no true understanding of their intention, purpose, or threat. These crafts; vessels; are unable to be shot down, intercepted, or otherwise controlled by our current mechanisms. If nothing else, in the means of security and our military, we should focus immensely on understanding these objects!
Regardless of whether or not UAPs are of extraterrestrial origin, the U.S. Government, and subsequent responsible branches, divisions, and contractors, have a duty to their dignity and history to declassify their various unidentified research programs to the American public. The government has already confirmed there is a presence of something, of that thing we are unaware of its origins, and that the public cannot know about it. They claim ignorance; they claim falsely. Reports from Mr. Grusch, the USS Nimitz, the USS Roosevelt, and even the Pentagon have very clearly, very blatantly, stated we are being visited. Whether alien or foreign powers, America needs to know. Perhaps not every detail of technological research should be disclosed, yet it is irrefutable the importance of these discoveries. America cannot ignore this. America cannot deny this. America is experiencing endless visitations. The goal posts of the truth have been continuously pushed past the horizon; but have never truly disappeared.
